“He wants to grow veggies. She wants a zen tea room for her friends. Happy wife, happy life.”
Why American homeowners are saying no to $100,000 custom greenhouses, and yes to Nordwood
In America you get two options: a thin aluminum kit, or a custom build that costs a fortune. So we built the Nordwood.
My sister called it the most beautiful spot on the property
Brian on spending time outside
-
Coffee in the morning, cards with the neighbors
My wife will enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning out here. We have card games once a week with our neighbors here.
-
The most beautiful spot on the property
My sister said: "How did I not know this area of your property existed? This is the most beautiful spot of your whole entire property."
-
Gorgeous at night
At night, with the chandelier inside and the path lights leading up to it, it's whimsical. Daytime pictures don't even do it justice.
-
A new way to enjoy his own property
Finding different ways to enjoy my property has always been my goal. And this really gives me a place to do that.

He wasn't even looking for one
I didn't even know I needed a greenhouse. I saw it and I'm like, "Oh my god, I have to have this."
-
For friends and family
It's not just a greenhouse. It's an experience for your friends and your family to enjoy.
-
His mom and aunt use it every week
My mom couldn't be more proud. She goes into the greenhouse, and my aunt is here weekly growing stuff. She's got her own space in there.
-
Still standing after a record hail storm
We went through one of the worst hail storms in the history of Illinois. Windows were broken on cars. Nothing here. Knock on wood, it made it.
Brian's Nordwood, day and night
“I couldn't have built it better or designed it better”
“I wanted to surprise my wife. I had this done in May, ready for a party we had in June. When you're sitting in here at night with the lights on, this room feels just serene. I'm a wood guy, and this thing's gorgeous.”
Dan on the quality
-
A builder's verdict
I've been building structures my entire life. I couldn't have built it better or designed it better.
-
Joinery he couldn't do on site
With the CNC work that you guys did, the mortise and tenon work, I couldn't do it on site. It would take me forever.
-
A wood guy on the wood
I'm a wood guy. Wood is gorgeous. This building is beautiful inside.
-
Better in person than in the photos
You can't really tell how big it's going to feel from pictures online. It's better in person, without a doubt.
More from Dan

Hard to make, even for a builder
I don't think very many people could literally make this.
-
Worth more than the price
My mind says that the number you guys are charging for it, it could be higher, substantially higher.
-
Built as a surprise for his wife
I built this whole thing for my wife. She's from Madeira, Portugal. We wanted to have more space for her, to just enjoy more of the yard.
-
They're in it every night
We sit in it every night. We're in it every night. Honestly, every night.

Architect and contractor

- A crew in your yard until it's done
- You hire and manage the architect, the contractor and the glass supplier

- You don't see it until it's finished

What foundation does it need?
A concrete pad, a deck, or a paved surface. The frame fixes down with screws and needs no ground anchors. Get the base flat and level before anything goes up; it decides whether the doors still close properly in ten years. The foundation is not included.
What’s included in the kit?
Everything needed to build the greenhouse: the pre-cut natural wood frame, all toughened safety glass panels, double hinged doors, 4 roof windows (manual, opened by hand), ridge and base fixings, and the step-by-step assembly manual. Plan on two people for the build, as the glass panels are a two-person job. Not included: the upgrades sold on this page (automatic window openers, deeper wood treatment, premium door hardware) and the foundation. The full parts list is in Specifications.
Can I assemble it myself?
Yes, and most owners do. Every part arrives pre-cut and labelled, the manual takes you panel by panel, and only basic tools are needed. Plan on two people and a few days: glass is a two-person job, and do not set it in wind. We do not offer installation ourselves; many owners bring in a friend or a local handyman for the build. The manual is in Assembly.
How long does delivery take?
Every Nordwood is built to order. Freight delivery is free and currently 12–14 weeks. Orders ship fully insured to your door across the continental US, with a tracking email when it leaves the factory and another from the last-mile carrier. Current windows, estimated dates and prices are in Shipping & Delivery.
Should I wait to order before I prepare my yard for it?
This greenhouse is this cheap because it is a pre-order. It takes time for us to make it and ship it to you. We are currently working hard to offer our customers even faster delivery, but once this happens we will raise the price to full price to cover logistics. We recommend taking advantage of this offer and ordering now. We can also store this greenhouse for you for up to 5 months if you are not ready to receive it.
Do I need a building permit?
Most locations do not require one for a structure of this size, but rules vary street by street, so check with your HOA or local authority before you order rather than after. Take the footprint with you: this model covers 206 sq ft.
“It's not just a greenhouse to me. It's a lifestyle thing.”

We know waiting for your greenhouse isn’t easy. Each Nordwood is made in Europe and shipped across the ocean. It’s not a regular parcel delivery, it comes to you on a freight truck. We’ll email you updates along the way.
What to know about delivery
- Carefully crated. Your greenhouse travels in sturdy wooden crates, packed so the wood and glass arrive safely. For example, a 206 sq ft greenhouse ships as one package about 9½ ft long, 3½ ft wide and just under 3 ft tall, weighing around 2,400 lbs.
- Lead time & fulfillment. Orders take 3–5 business days to prepare before they ship. Because each kit is precision-milled and shipped via dedicated ocean and domestic freight lanes, typical fulfillment runs 12–14 weeks.
- Coordinated delivery appointment. Our freight carrier calls you 48–72 hours in advance to schedule a firm delivery date and confirm the truck has clearance to reach you. Sometimes a full-size truck can’t get in. In that case, we’ll arrange pickup at a nearby freight terminal instead (see the note below).
Shipping just got faster. We build and ship faster now, so every window below is shorter than last season. Same prices. For a limited time, on this production run only.
Shipping costs
| Delivery to | Shipping | Price | Lead time | Est. delivery |

Site Access Note: This is curbside delivery, performed by a full-size freight truck with a hydraulic liftgate, or a flatbed truck if the product doesn’t fit on the liftgate. A level, paved or hard-packed surface is required. The truck also needs clear access to your address, and some rural roads and narrow driveways may not fit. If the truck can’t safely reach your location, we’ll arrange pickup at the nearest freight terminal, usually within 20 miles of you, and confirm the details with you first. At the terminal, you can unpack the crates and take the panels home in a smaller truck, or hire local help.
Please note: delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees. Orders are built in batches in Europe, so production, ocean freight, ports, and customs can shift the timeline. If your estimate changes, we’ll email you.
How it works: we build your greenhouse at our own factory in Europe and ship it straight to the US. Shipping direct from the factory keeps our costs low, and we pass those savings on to you. The trade-off is time. From our factory to you usually takes 12–14 weeks in total, including the trip across the ocean to our warehouses in Florida, Texas, or New Jersey. You’ll get one tracking email when your order leaves the factory and another when the local carrier picks it up.
Changed your mind? Cancel any time before your order ships for a full refund. See the Order policy for details.
Covers structural defects in the wood frame and glass under normal use. Register within 30 days of delivery to activate full cover.
