Four reasons why Nordwood greenhouses are worth every penny

1. The look

THE GREENHOUSE YOU PUT IN THE BEST CORNER OF YOUR YARD

  • Warm, finished timber that only looks better with age. That's why owners place theirs front and center in the yard, not tucked out of sight. It's the kind of thing you're proud to own and glad to show off.

  • Bigger inside than it looks. About 6.5 feet at the door, nearly 10 feet up to the ridge - you stand up straight and walk around, not duck and shuffle.

  • One room, two jobs. Dinner with friends at one end, tomatoes and lettuce at the other, daylight on all four sides. Most greenhouses only ever manage the second job. This one's comfortable enough for both.

2 The frame

Thick Nordic spruce beams, treated to handle real winters for decades

  • Most greenhouse frames are thin aluminum or light timber. They flex in wind, twist out of square, and that's when the glass starts cracking and the door stops closing. Nordwood beams are nearly 4 x 2 inches, so nothing moves.

  • The beams are pressure treated, a process that pushes preservative right through the timber. Rot, mold and damp stay out of the wood, which is the difference between a frame that lasts decades and one that goes soft at the base.

  • 115 mph wind. Three feet of settled snow. A roof pitched steep enough that most of it slides off before it ever settles.

3. The glass

Tempered glass, and we'll prove its durability on camera

  • Every panel is real 4mm tempered glass, so it stays clear for decades. Cheaper kits use acrylic or thin polycarbonate, which hazes over and turns yellow in few seasons.

  • One owner was shoveling beside his greenhouse and hit a panel with the blade. It stayed exactly where it was.

  • The glass blocks over 95% of UV, including the UVB and UVC that burn skin and stress plants. That's what lets you sit in there for a whole afternoon rather than ten minutes.

  • We fired baseball-sized hail at a roof on camera to see what would happen to it. It surved!

  • If a panel ever does break, tempered glass crumbles into small blunt pieces instead of shards. Sweep it up, tell us, and a replacement comes out to you.

4. The ventilation

Roof windows that open themselves when it gets warm

  • All that glass keeps the room warm months longer than an open garden. The vents let you decide how much of that warmth to keep.

  • Those windows come manual or automatic. The manual ones you open by hand. The automatic ones sense about 70°F and open themselves, with no power and no app.

  • Take the automatic upgrade. Heat builds fastest on the days you're least likely to be standing there, and by the time you get home the damage is done.

  • Airflow is what lets one room do both jobs. Comfortable enough to eat dinner in, steady enough for plants to actually crop.

"With the automatic openers you're not out there managing ventilation every time the weather shifts."

Why we build these

We started making greenhouses because the ones we bought kept falling down

Gustavs and his dad outside one of the first YourGreenHouses builds

I built my first greenhouse with my dad, after two store-bought kits failed to make it through the winter. That's the whole reason this company exists.

We started building them the way they should have been built in the first place: heavier frames, real tempered glass, and warranties we'd still honor in ten years. Now they're standing in backyards where families grow their own food instead of buying it.

Every order ships free and fully insured to your door across the continental USA. Orders take 3–5 business days to prepare before they ship. Most deliveries go straight to your door. If the truck can't safely reach your location, we'll arrange pickup at the nearest freight terminal and confirm the details with you first.

The dates shown are estimates, not guarantees. They reflect the earliest delivery window based on current production and freight schedules. Pre-orders are produced in batches and shipped from Europe, so manufacturing volume, ocean freight, port handling, and customs can affect the timeline. If an estimate changes, we email you an updated one.

How pre-orders work

  • Pre-orders are produced in batches at our factory in Europe, then shipped to our US warehouses in Florida, Texas, and New Jersey. Transit from the factory to a warehouse usually takes 3–4 weeks.
  • You receive two tracking emails: one when the order leaves the factory, and one when it is handed to the last-mile carrier.
  • Orders can be cancelled for a full refund any time before they ship.

For full details on delivery, cancellation, and refunds, see the Pre-order Policy.

Walk through every feature

Gustavs shows the Nordwood the way he built it: slow-grown Nordic spruce, real tempered glass, walk-in height, and how it stays a usable garden room all year, not just a place for seedlings.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a building permit?

Most of our models don't require one. Rules vary street by street, so check with your HOA or local authority before installation rather than after. Take the footprint of the model you're considering with you: the collection runs up to 214 sq ft.

How does it arrive?

As a complete kit — every glass panel, the full timber frame, and an assembly manual. Standard delivery is 16–20 weeks and free across the continental US, curbside. Two paid express windows are available at checkout.

Do you assemble it for me?

No, we don't offer installation as a service. Most owners build it themselves over a few days, or bring in a friend or a handyman to help. Plan on two people either way — glass is a two-person job, and don't set it in wind.

What foundation does it need?

A concrete pad, a deck, or a paved surface. It fixes down with screws and needs no ground anchors. Get that base flat and level before anything goes up — it's what decides whether the doors still close properly in ten years.

What about sun and UV?

The tempered glass blocks over 95% of UV radiation, the UVB and UVC that cause sunburn and stress plants, while still letting bright natural light through. That makes it comfortable to sit in, and most houseplants do well. If your plan is serious food crops, our polycarbonate line is built for that job — Nordwood is built for enjoying the space.

Where is it made?

In Europe, from FSC-certified timber. Demand is high enough that units ship out as soon as they're finished rather than sitting in a warehouse.

Can I add heating or lighting inside?

Yes. Run a power cable and socket while you're setting it up — it's far easier then than later. Anything you plug in needs to be rated for outdoor use.

Will the glass survive hail?

It's 4mm tempered, so yes. Rather than ask you to take that on faith, we shot a paintball gun at a panel and then threw a baseball at it on camera. Both clips are in the video library above.

What's covered by the warranty?

A 5-year limited warranty on the frame and glass panels against structural defects under normal use. Register within 30 days of delivery to activate full cover. Returns are 30 days.
